Archive Cover Letter (Or What Is This?)

The following is "out-of-character", in case it isn't obvious.

Hello, Dear Reader,

It looks like you've found this. And you're probably scratching your head wondering "what the deuce has HornbyHornby started this time?" Well, allow me to explain.

This wiki is my own private archive of all things relating to my personal headcanon for the SCP Foundation (and thus all creative commons caveats apply). It is part sandbox, part backup archive, and part world-building exercise. Why am I not using one of the two existing Sandbox wikis for this? Well, it's rather simple, really: since I am the master admin for this wiki (and in general nobody else is a member of the wiki at all), I don't have to be quite so paranoid about somebody getting in and messing around with my stuff. Also, some members of the senior staff get really annoyed when Foundation wiki members create multiple pages in the sandbox wikis (despite the fact that it is not against the wiki's rules). With my work being here, it's neither their problem nor responsibility.

In-character, the site is supposed to be my doppelganger's personal collection of files. The fictional Hornby is a Properly Paranoid field intelligence officer turned intelligence analyst, and keeps extensive personal records and notes.

This site is organized into the following sections:

  • Groups-of-Interest: These are pages where I maintain my own personal headcanon files on different GoIs. For the most part, this is world-building relating to organizations, countries, and groups, as opposed to individuals. Tagged: goi
  • Persons-of-Interest: These are pages where I maintain my own personal headcanon files on different characters who are not solely members of the Foundation. An example might be a GOC character, or a Foundation character with conflicting loyalties. Tagged: poi
  • Foundation Personnel: These are pages where I maintain my own personal headcanon files on different characters who are members of the Foundation. I tend to not extensively include well-known members of the Foundation's senior staff (Bright, for example) in my writings. They're scientists, and my tales tend towards the Foundation's intelligence operations. Also, it's right difficult to match the characterization and voice of other authors. Tagged: fp
  • Anomalous Objects: These are pages where I maintain my own personal headcanon files on different SCPs and anomalous objects I need for my tales. Some are simply archival copies of my own SCP articles; some are items referenced in tales that never appear on the main list. All which are posted to the main wiki have links to their primary location. Tagged: ao/scp; If an object is a proposed SCP, i.e. an E-class object, it is also tagged: eclass
  • Operations: These fall into two categories: tales, and notes relating to tales that don't fall into one of the above categories. All tales which are posted to the main wiki have links to their primary location. Tagged: ops
  • Out-Of-Character: These are pages, like this one, which are not "in-character" like the rest of the site here. They are few and far in-between. Tagged: ooc

So, feel free to look around. If a page is under construction, you'll see purple Jedi mind trick text telling you to <move along>. Obviously, I can't make you, but you shouldn't expect those pages to be anything other than me organizing my thoughts.

If you have thoughts, or want to collaborate on some world-building, I read my wikidot PMs and reply as real-life commitments allow.

Cheers,
Hornby

P.S. Be careful opening some of the doors - my fictional counterpart is known to occasionally rig them with Claymore mines. Paranoid bugger.

ooc
